HOW TO INTEGRATE

TikTok Business Setup Guide

Receive approved TikTok Business messages and owned-account comment events, then handle permitted replies from SEROS.

Typical setup: 20–30 minutes after TikTok approval Written for beginners

BEFORE YOU START

What you need

Start here if this is your first integration

TikTok Business messages and owned-video comment events require an approved TikTok API for Business app. The setup is still click-by-click, but TikTok must approve the Organic API and Business Messaging access before the final test can pass.

  • An approved TikTok API for Business app
  • Organic API and Business Messaging access for the intended account
  • The app ID, Business access token, and app secret

CONNECTION STEPS

Connect TikTok Business, one click at a time

Complete each small action in order. Do not move to the next step until the expected result matches what you see.

TikTok API for BusinessOpen TikTok API for Business

Open or create the company app

Use an app owned by the company or its Business Center, not an employee's temporary test app.

    • Open the TikTok API for Business portal and sign in.
    • Open My Apps.
    • Select the existing SEROS integration app, or choose Create App if none exists.
    • Complete the company, contact, privacy-policy, and app-purpose information TikTok requests.

Expected resultThe app appears under My Apps with an App Detail page.

    Request the required products

SEROS needs TikTok's Organic API for owned-account comment events and Business Messaging for direct messages.

    • Open the app's Products or Access Management section.
    • Request Organic API access for the TikTok business account.
    • Request Business Messaging API access for direct messages.
    • Submit the use case and demonstration materials requested by TikTok, then wait for approval before production activation.

Expected resultBoth Organic API and Business Messaging are approved or visibly under review.

  3. 03
    TikTok · Authorization

    Authorize the TikTok Business account

The access token must represent the business account whose messages and owned-video comments SEROS will manage.

    • Open the app's Authorization section.
    • Start account authorization and sign in as an administrator of the intended TikTok Business account.
    • Approve the Organic and Business Messaging permissions requested by the app.
    • Complete the authorization-code exchange shown by TikTok and copy the resulting Business access token.

Expected resultYou have an active Business access token for the correct TikTok account.

Copy the App ID and App secret

The App ID identifies the app; the App secret verifies TikTok webhook signatures. Keep the secret private.

    • Open My Apps, select the app, then open Basic Information.
    • Copy the App ID.
    • Reveal and copy the App secret only in a private environment.
    • Keep the Business access token from the previous step available.

Expected resultYou have the App ID, Business access token, and App secret from one TikTok app.

  5. 05
    SEROS

    Paste the TikTok credentials

Save all three values together so SEROS can validate API calls and signed webhook events.

    • Open SEROS, select Integrations, and find TikTok Business.
    • Select Connect and enter a clear Connection name.
    • Paste the App ID into TikTok app ID.
    • Paste the Business access token and App secret into their matching fields, then select Save securely.

Expected resultSEROS creates the connection and displays its callback URL in Finish setup.

  6. 06

Copy the callback URL into TikTok webhooks

Use the same SEROS callback URL for the approved account-event and Business Messaging webhook configurations.

    • In SEROS Finish setup, use Copy beside Callback URL.
    • In the TikTok app, open Webhooks and create or update the TikTok Account webhook configuration; paste the SEROS URL.
    • Subscribe the owned-account comment-update events approved for the app.
    • Create or update the Business Messaging webhook configuration with the same URL and subscribe the approved message events.

Expected resultTikTok shows active webhook configurations pointing to the SEROS callback URL.

  7. 07
    SEROS

    Test and activate

The test verifies the token, app identity, and the business account available to SEROS.

    • Close Finish setup and find the new TikTok connection.
    • Select Test and read any missing-scope message carefully.
    • If a scope is still under review, leave the connection Pending and return after TikTok approves it.
    • When Test succeeds, select Activate and confirm Active status.

Expected resultTikTok Business shows Active without an authorization or scope warning.

  8. 08

    Test messages and comments

Only interactions allowed by TikTok's current account, messaging, and comment policies will be delivered or replyable.

    • From another TikTok account, send a permitted message to the connected business account.
    • Add a comment to a video owned by the connected account.
    • In SEROS Unified Inbox, confirm the message and comment appear in their correct TikTok channels.
    • Reply from SEROS and verify the permitted replies appear on TikTok.

Expected resultTikTok messages and owned-video comments can be handled from SEROS.

Verify before your team relies on it

  • Account and Business Messaging webhooks use the SEROS callback URL

IMPORTANT NOTES

Know the provider rules

TikTok controls product availability, app review, scopes, messaging windows, and comment reply eligibility.

Leave the connection Pending until TikTok approves every scope required by your use case.
