What you need
SEROS uses Instagram's secure login screen. You do not copy access tokens or account IDs. The person connecting must be able to sign in to the Instagram Business or Creator account.
- An Instagram Professional account (Business or Creator)
- Permission to authorize the account and grant message/comment access
- Permission to manage Integrations in SEROS

Connect Instagram, one click at a time
Complete each small action in order. Do not move to the next step until the expected result matches what you see.

Confirm the account is professional
Instagram messaging integrations require a Business or Creator account, not a personal account.
- Open Instagram and go to the profile you want to connect.
- Open the ☰ menu, then Settings and activity.
- Look for For professionals or Business tools and controls.
- If you see Switch to professional account, follow that flow and choose Business or Creator before continuing.
Expected resultThe profile shows professional tools and can be authorized for messages and comments.

Check that you can sign in
Use the account owner's login and complete any security prompts before starting the SEROS connection.
- Confirm you know the Instagram username and password.
- Complete two-factor authentication if Instagram asks for it.
- Make sure you are working with the correct brand profile, especially if your phone has several accounts saved.
Expected resultYou can open the intended professional profile without an account-recovery prompt.

Start Connect With Instagram
Open the workspace that should own the conversations. The authorization is saved only to that workspace.
- Open SEROS and select Integrations in the left menu.
- Find the Instagram block at the top of the page.
- Select Connect With Instagram.
- Wait for the official Instagram authorization page to open.
Expected resultInstagram shows the account authorization screen.

Sign in to the correct profile
Do not continue if Instagram displays the wrong brand account.
- Sign in with the professional account you checked earlier.
- If a saved account is shown, verify the username before selecting Continue.
- If the wrong account appears, choose Switch accounts and sign in again.
Expected resultThe authorization page names the Instagram profile you intend to connect.

Approve message and comment access
SEROS needs the permissions shown on this screen to receive and answer direct messages and comments.
- Review the permissions instead of turning individual permissions off.
- Keep access to messages and comments enabled.
- Select Allow or Continue to SEROS.
- Wait until the browser returns you to the SEROS Integrations page.
Expected resultSEROS displays the connected Instagram profile and its channel name.
- 06SEROS
Review the connected channel
SEROS automatically creates channels for supported Instagram messages and comments.
- Check that the displayed @username belongs to the correct brand.
- Select Manage if you want to change the internal channel name.
- Select Health and wait for all permission checks to finish.
Expected resultThe Instagram card is Active and the health summary has no permission warning.

Test a direct message
Use a second Instagram account so the test behaves like a real customer conversation.
- From another Instagram account, send a new direct message to the connected profile.
- Open SEROS Unified Inbox and find the Instagram Direct conversation.
- Reply from SEROS.
- Confirm the reply arrives in the second Instagram account.
Expected resultThe direct message can be received and answered from SEROS.

Test a comment
Use a recent post owned by the connected profile and leave a harmless test comment from another account.
- Publish or open a post on the connected profile.
- From another account, add a comment such as “Integration test”.
- Find the Instagram Comments conversation in SEROS.
- Send a reply from SEROS and confirm it appears under the correct comment.
Expected resultInstagram Direct and Instagram Comments both work in the Unified Inbox.
FINAL CHECK
Verify before your team relies on it
- The intended professional account is listed in SEROS
- Instagram Direct and/or Comments are enabled
- A test interaction appears in the Unified Inbox
- The connection health shows no permission or token warning
IMPORTANT NOTES
Know the provider rules
Personal Instagram accounts are not supported by the professional messaging APIs.
If Meta permissions are removed or expire, use Reconnect in SEROS instead of creating a duplicate connection.
