BEFORE YOU START
What you need
First choose one delivery method: SendGrid is the clearest guided option, SMTP connects an existing mail provider, and HTTPS Email is for a company with its own email-delivery endpoint. Follow only the branch you use, then continue to Test and Activate.
- A verified sending domain or From address
- SPF, DKIM, and DMARC configured for the sending domain
- Credentials for SendGrid, your HTTPS endpoint, or SMTP provider
CONNECTION STEPS
Connect Email, one click at a time
Complete each small action in order. Do not move to the next step until the expected result matches what you see.
- 01Your decision
Choose the email method
The three options all send email, but they ask for different information.
- Choose SendGrid Email API if you want provider delivery events and optional inbound email.
- Choose SMTP Email if your mail provider gave you an SMTP host, port, username, and password or app password.
- Choose HTTPS Email only if your developer has a public HTTPS endpoint that accepts the SEROS email JSON contract.
- Do not create more than one method for the same sender unless your team intentionally needs separate routes.
Expected resultYou know which Email block and which provider credentials to prepare.
- 02Email provider + DNSSendGrid domain authentication
Verify the sending domain
A verified domain protects deliverability and helps receiving mail systems trust the sender.
- Choose the From address customers should see, for example support@yourdomain.com.
- In your email provider, start Domain Authentication or Sender Authentication.
- Add the SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records supplied by the provider to your domain's DNS.
- Return to the provider and wait until the domain or sender shows Verified.
Expected resultThe From address or its domain is verified by the delivery provider.
- 03SendGrid · use only for SendGridOpen SendGrid API Keys
Create and copy the SendGrid API key
SendGrid shows the full key only once, so keep the SEROS connection form ready before creating it.
- In SendGrid, open Settings, then API Keys.
- Select Create API Key and name it “SEROS”.
- Choose Restricted Access or Custom Access and give Mail Send the required access; add webhook-setting access if your account requires it for setup.
- Select Create & View, then copy the complete key beginning with SG.
Expected resultThe SendGrid API key is in your clipboard and has not been shared elsewhere.
- 04SEROS · SendGrid branch
Fill the SendGrid Email API form
Use this step only if you selected SendGrid.
- Open SEROS, select Integrations, find SendGrid Email API, and select Connect.
- Enter a Connection name and paste the SG key into SendGrid API key.
- Choose Global or European Union to match the region of your SendGrid account.
- Enter the verified From email, optional From name, and optional Reply-To email, then select Save securely.
Expected resultSEROS creates a Pending SendGrid sender and displays its webhook URL.
- 05SEROS · SMTP branch
Fill the SMTP Email form
Use this step only if your existing email provider supplies SMTP credentials.
- Ask the provider for SMTP host, port, security type, username, and password or app password.
- In SEROS Integrations, open SMTP Email and select Connect.
- Paste each value into its matching field; choose STARTTLS for the provider's TLS-upgrade port, commonly 587, or TLS for its direct TLS port, commonly 465.
- Enter the verified From email, optional name and Reply-To, then select Save securely.
Expected resultSEROS creates a Pending SMTP sender using the provider's exact settings.
- 06SEROS · HTTPS branch
Fill the HTTPS Email form
Use this step only when your developer gave you a secure JSON endpoint and bearer token.
- Confirm the endpoint starts with https:// and is publicly reachable.
- In SEROS Integrations, open HTTPS Email and select Connect.
- Paste the endpoint into Outbound webhook URL and the private token into Outbound bearer token.
- Enter the verified From email details and select Save securely.
Expected resultSEROS creates a Pending HTTPS Email sender.
- 07SendGrid · optional delivery eventsSendGrid signed webhook steps
Connect the signed Event Webhook
This optional SendGrid step lets SEROS record delivery, open, click, bounce, spam, and unsubscribe events.
- In SEROS, copy the Event Webhook URL shown on the SendGrid connection.
- In SendGrid, open Settings, Mail Settings, then Event Webhooks; add or edit a webhook and paste the URL as the Post URL.
- Enable the events your team needs, then enable Signed Event Webhook and Save.
- Reopen the SendGrid webhook, copy its public verification key, then edit the SEROS connection and paste it into Signed Event Webhook public key.
Expected resultSendGrid sends signed delivery events to the SEROS webhook.
- 08SendGrid · optional inbound emailSendGrid Inbound Parse setup
Connect Inbound Parse for received email
Complete this optional SendGrid step only if replies sent to a dedicated email subdomain should create conversations in the SEROS inbox.
- Choose a dedicated receiving subdomain, for example replies.yourdomain.com, and add an MX record pointing it to mx.sendgrid.net with priority 10.
- In SEROS, copy the Inbound Webhook URL shown on the SendGrid connection.
- In SendGrid, open Settings, Inbound Parse, and select Add Host & URL; enter the receiving subdomain and paste the SEROS Inbound Webhook URL.
- Save the Parse configuration, then edit the SEROS connection and enter the Inbound Parse domain and signing public key when your secured Parse policy provides one.
Expected resultEmail sent to the configured receiving subdomain is parsed by SendGrid and delivered to the SEROS inbound endpoint.
- 09SEROS
Test and activate the sender
The provider test must succeed before this sender is used in a campaign.
- Close Finish setup and find the new Email connection.
- Select Test and wait for the credential and sender checks.
- Correct any provider, DNS, or From-address error, then run Test again.
- Select Activate only after Test succeeds.
Expected resultThe Email sender shows Active with a successful health summary.
- 10SEROS Campaigns
Send a controlled consented test
Use a small internal test before selecting a customer segment.
- Create or open an email template with a subject, body, and unsubscribe path where required.
- Choose the newly activated Email sender.
- Send first to one or two internal addresses that have consented to the test.
- Confirm delivery and, for SendGrid, confirm the expected delivery events reach SEROS.
Expected resultThe message is delivered with the correct From identity and tracking behavior.
FINAL CHECK
Verify before your team relies on it
- The From address is verified with the provider
- The connection test succeeds
- The sender status is Active
- A controlled test email is delivered and provider events are received when configured
IMPORTANT NOTES
Know the provider rules
SEROS cannot repair missing DNS authentication or sender reputation problems at the delivery provider.
Inbound email is available through the supported SendGrid configuration, not generic SMTP or HTTPS Email.
